In March 2007 work
started on the replacement of the Tannery bridge with an entirely
new structure - stronger and a little wider. Disruptions to village
life are inevitable, but we hope we can keep you informed of the
works progress in these pages.

programme
- Tannery Bridge Completion date is now 20th March 2008.
- The removal of the foundations to the western approach of the
temporary bridge has taken longer than anticipated and this has
delayed the completion date.
- A section of the parapet will be removed this week for modifications.
To maintain safety levels across the bridge, traffic flows will
remain under signal control until 20th March.
- The final painting of the parapet will be undertaken in April/May
when weather conditions will have improved and the appropriate
guarantee will be given by the parapet supplier.
- EA approval has been obtained in order to place machinery in
the river to clear the ‘debris’ bar upstream of the
bridge
Environment Agency Walkway
The Environment Agency Walkway immediately upstream of the bridge
is not going to be reinstated. Wiltshire County Council and the
EA have come to an arrangement which will allow operational maintenance
and clearance of large debris without this structure.
The Tannery Bridge Scheme
telephone helpline has been established. This helpline is an answer
phone which is reviewed on a daily basis by site staff. The telephone
number for this helpline is 07890 517350.
