Downton Link Scheme

Downton Link Scheme is a voluntary group offering a good neighbour service to local people who are in need, either because they are elderly, disabled, single parents or perhaps are temporarily in need because of illness.

Downton Link Scheme welcomes new volunteers, so that more people can be helped. Link Scheme Volunteers decide on their own availability and the kind of the help that they can offer. A co-ordinator contacts volunteers with requests. Volunteers are covered by insurance and are paid mileage expenses. They do things such as helping with transport, collecting prescriptions, doing shopping, changing library books, taking clients to appointments or the shops; or practical help such as feeding and walking pets and minor jobs in the house and garden; some volunteers also help with caring, such as taking a client for a walk, or popping in for a chat or to read to a client.

To find out about The Downton Link Scheme, please contact Keith Denham, the Chair of Downton Link on 01725 513197 or email keith.denham@homecall.co.uk
